Christi Kay, MEd is serving as a consultant after 17 years as President/CEO of HealthMPowers, a non-profit organization committed to improving the health of students, staff, families and community members in low- income communities.  The HealthMPowers program model has employed a PSE approach to its work with schools, early care centers, out of school time sites and communities and is identified as an evidence based-practice tested intervention in the SNAP-Ed Strategies and Interventions: An Obesity Prevention Toolkit for State.  She has been a leader in health education and health promotion in Georgia for more than 35 years and is a national trainer for CDC, President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sport, Shape America, and Society of Public Health Educators and has presented and provided trainings at the state, national and international levels.  She developed the statewide nutrition and physical activity trainings for Georgia’s early care centers and fitness assessment training for all K-12 schools.   She recently led the development and statewide implementation of “Power Up for 30” initiative, the state’s Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program initiative for schools and centers serving Pre-K through grade 12.  She is currently the co-principal investigator on a 2.5M grant from Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to examine the relationship between physical activity and academic achievement among elementary students in Georgia.
