This webinar will describe how continuing education (CE) reviewers will support SOPHE's strategic plan and elevate the health education profession. Professional Development committee members will review the process to conduct a quality review for continuing education credit, including aligning learning objectives with HESPA III areas of responsibilities.
At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the role of SOPHE CE Reviewers in supporting SOPHE's Strategic Plan and Professional Development Program.
- Describe the steps in the CE Review Process.
- Describe methods to map stated objectives to align with the best sub-competency.
- Utilize the SOPHE CE Review form to complete assigned reviews.
HESPA III Sub-competencies that will be covered include:
9.3.4 |Entry| Conduct peer reviews (e.g., manuscripts, abstracts, proposals).
9.4.3 |Entry| Participate in ongoing education opportunities to contribute to continuing competency.
9.6.2 |Entry| Explain the role of professional organizations and the benefits of participating in them.

Linda E. Forys, EdM, MCHES? retired in 2017 after 37 years in public health.? She was Director of Health Education and Promotion with Harris County Public Health (Houston, Texas) where she provided consultation, leadership and direction in the development and implementation of community and evidence-based health education and promotion components of the department?s interventions and programs.? Ms. Forys has been member of SOPHE for many years and served on the Board of Trustees as Secretary.? She is currently Co-Chair of the SOPHE Continuing Education Committee.
Dr. Andrea McDonald, PhD, CHES

Prairie View A&M University
Dr. Andrea McDonald, PhD, CHES, is an Associate Professor in the School of Public and Allied Health at Prairie View A&M University. She is a public health scholar, educator, and community-engaged researcher dedicated to advancing health equity through innovation, leadership, and service. Her work involves community-based participatory research, community health needs assessment and workforce development to address chronic disease prevention, food access, and health inequalities. Dr McDonald has led curriculum development and strategic initiatives in public health and nutrition informatics. Her scholarship bridges academia and community impact across Texas and the Caribbean. She currently serves as the Chair for the SOPHE Continuing Education Committee.
