The country is recognizing and facing another Ebola outbreak, with vaccine and treatment in question as the disease spreads. We have witnessed quarantine for Andes Hantavirus. We have witnessed misinformation regarding acceptable treatment and vaccines for once-understood, eliminated disease entities. This presentation will give an understanding of how others (medical / nursing/community members) see your work and your practice. This program will also provide results of surveys and research, incorporating new avenues to pass through the many roadblocks you are presently facing in your practice.
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe new ways to incorporate health concerns and practices with the community and healthcare professionals in their local hospitals and health facilities.
- Describe the results of surveys and research that will assist in editing misinformation.

My first career goal was to become a health educator. At a time when health education was a byproduct of a physical education degree. Plan B allowed me to train as a surgical technician, earn an RN, and finally a health education degree. Many mentors demonstrated public health/health education directives in nonformal venues (grocery stores, children's programs). They became a resource for patients and families pre & post-hospitalization. I took this knowledge and practice as I continued my career. Finding venues to educate not only the public but also to educate the most well-trained and specialized health professionals. Teaching the benefits of incorporating public health and health education into everyday practice. This mindset can prevent devastating health consequences for patients.
