Recognize why efforts to prevent youth substance use and support healthy youth development are most effective when organizations work together, rather than when one organization or program tries to do it alone. Just as caregiver involvement and collaboration with youth are integral for effective substance use prevention and health promotion within a family, collaboration between local, state, and national organizations helps boost the effectiveness of community-based public health efforts. This session will highlight an innovative and impactful collaborative model between Partnership to End Addiction, a national non-profit that equips adults to support the health and well-being of the young people in their lives, and notMYkid, a non-profit providing on-the-ground prevention and behavioral health services for youth and parents. It will illustrate how local and national agencies, government, schools, and community organizations can work together to support youth and improve outcomes.

At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Define three risk factors or protective factors that should be prioritized with an “earlier and broader” approach to youth substance use prevention.
  2. Gain at least one practical tool to foster and support cross-system partnerships that enhance local prevention efforts.

HESPA III Sub-competencies that will be covered include:

2.1.1 |Entry| Convene stakeholders to review assessment findings.

2.1.2 |Entry| Facilitate collaborative efforts among stakeholders to sustain engagement.
